With a background in travel journalism, advertising, and destination marketing – not to mention sporadic performances with his jazz trio -- David brings a unique perspective to his role as host of Undiscovered America TV.

From his years as an editor with Fodor’s Travel Publications and Zagat Survey in NYC, on to destination marketing with Visit St. Pete Clearwater, and up to his current role in destination development and industry consultancy, David has deep experience in all facets of the travel industry and a wealth of knowledge about America's surprise locales

and hidden gems. His expertise, combined with his infectious energy, enthusiasm, and natural penchant for adventure, make him the perfect guide for this unforgettable journey of discovery.

“Hosting Undiscovered America will be a natural extension of everything I love to do,” says Downing, whose latest adventure brought him to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, an experience he classifies as “a revelation.”

“Exploring both America and the rest of the world to learn new, weird, and wonderful things --- and then getting to chat with the people who make them that way -- is exactly what I’d be doing if the cameras weren’t there,” he says. “So it’s going to be a very real production, a kind of what-you-see-is-what-you-get, which I believe viewers will respond to.”
